Sunbeams
and the Breeze

PUBLICATION 3 - Is this it?

Time, longing and loss. A cycle that reoccurs multiple times within a lifetime, death not being its only turning point. One thinks we have time, but what is the definition of time? When they say ‘we are young, we have time’, time is defined by the length of life. The timeframe of life can be long, assuming you are blessed with a healthy life. But life isn’t the matter that defines time, or is it?

Every phase has its own time, and every venture within that phase lives on another timeframe. And so on. Childhood is one timeframe, young adulthood another, marriage/having children another, becoming old one more. What do we define the timeframe in the middle of both latters? Are we defined by time as a wife and mother until we are ready to become a grandmother? I sometimes feel detached from what society expects of me, how to fulfil my role within this timeframe. A struggle many women endure, but one I haven’t had a real life conversation about. The longing for the person you are, taking in the loss of having to put so much of yourself aside. I’ve slowly risen from the cave I have partially put myself in and have awoken a little disappointed, is this it?
